The Klemantaski Archive

The Klemantaski Collection consists of over 600,000 motor racing and related automotive photographs and is one of the largest and most varied libraries of its kind anywhere in the world. The Collection is based on three major archives. The first includes all of the motor racing images taken by the famous photographer Louis Klemantaski during his long and active career from 1936-1974. There are some 60,000 Klemantaski images in the Collection. Most of these are black and white, but there are a significant number of photos in color, including some from the prewar Grand Prix events.

The Snowdon Archive

Our second archive incorporates the motor racing photographs of the highly respected Nigel Snowdon who, with his wife Diana Burnett, photographed many of the Grand Prix and International Sports Car races from the early 1960s onward through the 1990s. The Snowdon archive numbers approximately 250,000 images, of which well over 50,000 are in color, and covers the period 1961-2001.

The JJF Archive

The third archive, which we acquired in 2018, was put together way a Swiss collector and owned for many years by a long time Belgian friend of the Collection. It consists of over 100,000 images, both black and white and color, with an emphasis on Ferrari and covers from the 1930s into the early 1990s.

Our Other Photographic Archives

We also have several smaller archives, including the famous Modena-based work of Peter Coltrin and the well-known English motorsports photographers Edward Eves, T. C. March, Alan R. Smith, and Colin Waldeck. We also own the motor racing work of the respected American photojournalist and author Robert Daley, the photography of the famous Mercedes-Benz press relations chief Günther Molter, and two archives closely associated with the annual publication Automobile Year, those of Yves Debraine and Ami Guichard. In addition, we own the Italian work of Giuliano Orzali and the extensive American and Canadian motor racing photography of Vicente Alvarez, Bill Fox, Chuck Rogers and Jack Whorwood. In addition, the Collection includes a number of images from the earliest days of motor racing dating from the end of the 19th Century among which are a number of images from the infamous Paris-Madrid race of 1903.

Signed Prints

In addition to supplying photos to special order, the Collection also carries a limited number of prints in various sizes which were signed by its photographers. These important images have achieved a strong following among photograph collectors around the world.

Licensing and Books

We also supply images to authors, publishers and advertisers for reproduction in books, magazines, television and other media.

The Collection also offers a series of special limited edition books containing its images.
